Legal DNA Test Requirements

Required Documents:

  • Valid government-issued photo ID for all adult participants (passport, driver's license, UMID, PRC ID, etc.)
  • Birth certificate for minor children
  • Consent forms signed by all participants or legal guardians
  • Chain of custody forms to be completed by the collector

Additional Requirements:

  • Supervised sample collection at an approved center
  • Photo documentation of all participants
  • Witness verification of identity and sample collection
  • Additional processing time (14-21 days)

Prenatal DNA Test Requirements

What You Need:

  • Mother: Blood sample (10ml) — collected at a clinic
  • Alleged father: Cheek swab or blood sample
  • Pregnancy: At least 7 weeks gestation
  • Ultrasound confirmation of pregnancy

  • Non-invasive — safe for both mother and baby
  • Results typically in 21 days
  • 99.9% accurate
  • Higher cost due to advanced technology used

Age Requirements for DNA Testing

DNA paternity testing can be performed on individuals of any age, from newborn infants to the elderly. There are no age restrictions for DNA testing.

Newborns (0-12 months)

Safe for newborns. Cheek swab is gentle and painless. No minimum age requirement.

Children (1-17 years)

Parent or legal guardian consent required. Simple and quick cheek swab collection.

Adults (18+)

No age limit. Self-consent. ID required for legal tests only. Available for all adults.

Tips for Successful Sample Collection

Before Collection

  • Avoid eating for 30 minutes before collecting samples
  • Do not drink anything except water for 30 minutes
  • No smoking or vaping for 30 minutes before
  • Do not chew gum or use mouthwash for 30 minutes
  • Wash hands thoroughly before handling swabs

During Collection

  • Rub the swab firmly, not gently — you need to collect cheek cells
  • Rub for the full 30 seconds on each cheek
  • Do not touch the swab tip with your fingers
  • Label each tube clearly with the participant's name
  • Seal tubes tightly to prevent leakage
